GEORGETTE'S STORY

In the Fall of 2006, my husband and I were devastated when our 7 yr. old cat, Georgette, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Because we strongly believe in complementary and alternative therapies for ourselves, we sought holistic care for Georgette as well.  While a variety of nutritional supplements and acupuncture did seem to help Georgette at first, she started to rapidly decline which is when we sought the services of Reiki Practitioner, Kathy Barr.  As a registered nurse, I am open-minded about all kinds of medical treatments, both traditional and alternative.  However, I had never heard of Reiki and was skeptical at first. 

We were utterly astounded at the way Georgette was transformed in her very first session from a depressed and withdrawn limp dish rag of a kitty to purring, bright-eyed and engaged with her surroundings.  While Georgette ultimately succumbed to her cancer, I have no doubt that Kathy's treatments prolonged Georgette's life and more importantly, dramatically improved the quality of her life.  The sessions always brought a great deal of comfort to Georgette as she instantly warmed each time to Kathy's voice, touch and energy. 

I also had some fleeting concerns about whether or not Reiki might conflict with my beliefs as a Christian.  The Bible does tell us that healing is one of the spiritual gifts given by God to some people and Kathy certainly has that gift. We also need to remember that, in the spiritual realm, healing doesn't always mean a cure. 

I don't know how Reiki works.  All I know is what we experienced with Georgette and I would never hesitate to contact Kathy again if we had a pet in need.
